In 1962 a girl and boy from two different high schools in Chattanooga, Tennessee, met when they joined the Junior Achievement program. Thirty years later a chance encounter on an Atlanta street set in motion a journey that would bring Mary Alice Howell and John Bevilaqua together as partners, husband and wife, and soul mates in the truest sense.

The End Was Only the Beginning is more than a memorial for a woman who put others first, made her mark as a civic leader, and fought four battles with cancer.
