Well, the general election in the United States is over, thankfully. People on both sides have wasted no time in expressing their feelings on Facebook and other forms of social media. Clearly our country is divided in many ways and healing the divide may prove difficult.
However, my view of the political world is through a spiritual lens. At the end of the day it does not matter what party affiliation one has. It does not matter if you are progressive or conservative. It does not matter if you are black, white, gay or straight. What matters is how we live our lives day to day.
Watching Hollywood actors and actresses or professional athletes talk about leaving the country while others are lamenting the decline of America because Donald Trump was elected. Conversely, watching others exclaim that the country has been saved from the depths of despair, i.e., progressive policies, is equally ludicrous.
Each of us, no matter our social status or station in life, is responsible for our own destiny including how we manage our daily lives. No one man whether the President of the United States or a member of Congress, can determine the ultimate destiny of a human being.
So, my advice to all my friends and those who may read these words, is to stay calm, live your life with love and respect. Remember that love is the ultimate answer to living life with a real sense of purpose. What kind of person do you want to be?
Stay positive and love with all your heart. Politics will not determine who you are as an individual. The world is full of good people and wonderful experiences. Don’t miss the joy and positive things in life that provide joy and richness for all who are able to open their hearts and live the experience. In other words, do your part to make the world a better place irrespective of who sits in the White House.
